⭐️Fly directly into Nice or take train from major cities like Parish ⭐️Stay 5 nights at @royalrivieria for perfect blend of luxury + family friendly Don’t miss - ⭐️Paloma Beach club (great beach and good on site food) ⭐️Villa Rothschild (beautiful gardens) ⭐️Eze - hilltop town with breathtaking views. Make dinner reservations at @lachevredor or go for drink. It has the most breathtaking views ⭐️Stroll along docks at Villafranche Sur me (I also really wanted to see Antibes but we didn’t make it this trip). STOP 2 - MOUSTIERS SAINTE MARIE / VALENSOLE ⭐️Next, we road-tripped inland, stopping in Saint Paul de Vence ⭐️Stayed 4 nights at Bastide de Marie, using it as a base to explore ⭐️Verdon Gorge - make boat reservations ahead of time ⭐️Lavender fields (end of June/early July) ⭐️Cliffside town of Moustiers Saint Marie — don’t miss doing the hike up to the church. Incredible valley views! (15 min hike). 
STOP 3: LUBERON VALLEY / SURROUNDING AREAS 
⭐️We ended the vacation with 7 nights at a private villa for a multigenerational stay.
⭐️This villa had it all: room to spread out, 22 m pool, beautiful grounds for kids to explore, private chefs, and a dreamy Provençal setting.
We explored nearby towns like ⭐️Gordes - Have dinner at @airiellesgordes ⭐️I’isle Sur La Sorgue - knwon for antiquing ⭐️Saignon - Have dinner at Le Jardin Sur La Toit ⭐️Roussillon- The town is a breathtaking orange color. Do the Les Sentier des Ocres hike- quick and easy with kids. ⭐️Lourmarin - best market and charming village ⭐️Les Baux de Provence - castle ruins + cave light show = kid favorite

Perched on a hilltop with dreamy views over the Luberon Valley, it looks like the ultimate Provencal village. I pictured myself waking up in a charming town, grabbing croissants from a local boulangerie, browsing markets, and wandering through cobblestone streets with the kids. But I’m so glad I was advised not to stay there — because once I finally visited Gordes, I understood why. Yes, it’s visually striking. But the town itself feels sparse — very few shops, limited dining, and not much to do beyond snapping a few photos. It felt more like a postcard than a place to stay awhile. The one exception? The luxury hotel Airelles Gordes, La Bastide — absolutely worth it if you’re booking a splurge-worthy stay. The hotel is a destination in itself. But if you’re choosing a villa or a base to explore the region, here are the towns that truly deliver:

MOUSTIERS-SAINTE- MARIE 
✔️ A hidden gem tucked into the cliffs
✔️ Hike to the church at the top for stunning views
✔️ Just 5 minutes from the Verdon Gorge - rent a boat for a few hours on the lake 2. LES BAUX-DE-PROVENCE 
✔️ One of the best towns in Provence for history lovers
✔️ Kids can explore the ruins, then catch the immersive light show at Carrières de Lumières 3. ROUSSILLON
✔️ The ochre trail hike was a highlight—easy, colorful, and kid-friendly
✔️ Great local shops and cafés in town 4. LOUMARIN
✔️ One of the best towns in Provence for strolling and shopping. Cute toy stores!
✔️ Don’t miss summer market day (Friday) 5. SAINT- REMY-DE-PROVENCE 
✔️ Popped in for an hour and saw the charm, but we admittedly rushed this town. ✔️ There is a cute carousel in town for kids
 ✔️ Next time I want to see: Van Gogh’s asylum walk, Roman ruins
 6. L’ISLE SUR LA SORGE
✔️ Went on market day—beautiful but way too crowded
✔️ Known for antique shops and riverside cafés
✔️ Would go back on a quieter day to have the kids explore the canal 7. SAIGNON 
✔️ Tiny, peaceful village with sweeping lavender views - good for kids in that it’s fun to explore but not overwhelming 
✔️ No shops, just beautiful and quaint 
✔️ Book dinner at Le Jardin Sur La Toit —an unforgettable setting and great food. ❌ OVERRATED– One I’d Skip Next Time GORDES
✖️ The iconic view of Gordes is stunning— you’ll defiantly want to pull over and take some photos. But the town itself felt underwhelming and a bit deserted.
