Plugs:  Adapters are needed. Tanzania operates on a 230V supply voltage. Plugs types are D and G.

Time zone: East Africa Time (GMT+3)

When to come:  High season is from June-October -- it's also the best time to view the Mara River Crossing.

Language:  Swahili and English

Nearest airport:  There are many local/regional airstrips, but the international airports include Julius Nyere and Kilimanjaro.

Visa or shots needed?:  If traveling from the U.S., you will need a visa and papers showing proof of Yellow Fever immunization. Consult the Tanzanian official website for further details.

Local history:  The famous archaeologist, Dr. Leaky, found the earliest human skull in Tanzania, dating back 2 million years!
