Before the Jackson Hole loyalists come at me — hea Before the Jackson Hole loyalists come at me — hear me out.👇👇👇

We loved our family trip to Jackson Hole this winter. Incredible outdoor activities, fantastic food scene, and an overall vibe that totally lived up to the hype.

But here’s my unpopular opinion:
Jackson Hole is overrated by this specific measure — if you’re a beginner skier or a green-run lover, it’s not the best ski destination.

There. I said it. 🤭

Speaking as a travel advisor and proud green skier, I wouldn’t recommend this mountain to those out there just starting out. The green runs are clustered at the bottom (no sweeping views), and the jump from green to blue is steep — not all blues are created equal (IYKYK). Plus the mountain is narrow, steep and felt pretty crowded.

That said, the ski school here was excellent. My kids attended and it was very well run. For kids just finding their ski legs again, the limited run variety wasn’t a dealbreaker — just know they’ll likely be skiing the same runs most of the day.

So yes — amazing destination. Just not the best fit for every skier.

Okay, bracing for impact now 😅

If you’ve skied Jackson Hole in winter…do you agree?

A MAGICAL WINTER ACTIVITY IF YOU’RE VISITING JACKS A MAGICAL WINTER ACTIVITY IF YOU’RE VISITING JACKSON HOLE WITH LITTLE KIDS

This is the elk sleigh ride @_nationalelkrefuge and it was so much fun!

Admittedly, I hesitated signing up for this excursion. I thought it would be hokey and wasn’t sure how little kids would do in frigid Wyoming temperatures sitting in a sleigh.

But I am so glad we did this…and it was actually my favorite activity in Jackson Hole with kids.

Here’s why it’s great for families ⬇️

✨Relatively short tour - about 60-90 min all in, including the shuttle to/from the refuge
✨Engaging guide- informative, but not overly talkative
✨Up close encounters with beautiful elk
✨Sleigh rides (and shuttle rides to the sleigh) are always going to be cool for a 4 year old boy
✨Beautiful scenery all around - the video doesn’t even do it justice.
✨About 5 min outside of town (and also easy to access from Teton Village ~25 min)
✨Kids 4 and under are free :)
✨It’s baby friendly!

5 LUXURY FAMILY HOTELS YOU’LL REGRET NOT VISITING 5 LUXURY FAMILY HOTELS YOU’LL REGRET NOT VISITING IN 2026

If travel feels overwhelming once kids are involved — this is exactly where I come in.

Hi, I’m Jillian, a luxury family travel advisor, and I help parents plan trips by booking the best luxury family hotels. You know…the ones where you’ll actually feel like you’re on vacation too.

These are hotels you’ll want to have on your 2026 travel radar, ranked by overall experience, kid happiness, and “was it worth it?” factor.

And yes — I’m partnered with every single one of these, which means when you book through me you receive free breakfast, resort credits, upgrades, and extra surprises.
👇👇👇
5️⃣ JW Marriott Marco Island- Great luxury choice without breaking the bank. Wide white-sand beach, waterslides, dolphin excursions, and an arcade my kids were obsessed with. Room choice matters here though!
4️⃣ Sea Island -A classic that never misses. Incredible spa and golf for parents, and nonstop activities for kids and grandparents alike — turtle walks, falconry, horseback riding on the beach. Ideal for multigenerational trips.
3️⃣ Hacienda AltaGracia, Auberge Resorts - A true bucket-list stay. You fly directly onto the property (a la James Bond). Farm visits, horseback riding, butterfly gardens, unreal food, full butler service, and a spa that’s absolutely worth planning time around.
2️⃣ Susurros del Corazón, Auberge Resorts- One of the most beautiful resorts we’ve ever seen. Stunning pools, swimmable beach, gorgeous villas for families, and a kids club my children did not want to leave.
1️⃣ Four Seasons Costa Rica at Peninsula Papagayo - A perfect 10/10. Two beaches, lush wildlife everywhere, and unmatched on-site adventure — surfing, ziplining, hiking, kayaking, biking, and more. Plus, the brand-new Papagayo Park with waterslides just opened.

Some skiing, some playing, some winter adventuring Some skiing, some playing, some winter adventuring…mostly eating. ❄️🍽️

Our family winter trip to Jackson Hole was skiing and so much more. Don’t get me wrong—I do enjoy a good day on the slopes (team green forever), but what I really love about a ski trip is the vibe. The cozy. The fireside chats. The warm drinks. The hot tub! And can’t forget the “we-worked-so-hard-for this” lunch. Yes, I am absolutely the person who skis a few runs and then has a great lunch spot reserved at the top of the mountain.

Here are my recommendations for a family winter trip to Jackson Hole

✨ Where to stay (luxury + family-friendly):
• @fsjacksonhole - luxe hotel right next to the slopes
• @hoteljackson - downtown boutique hotel
• @amangani- perfect for luxury lovers who also value quiet + nature

❄️ Winter things to do with kids in Jackson Hole:
• Skiing (the ski school here is incredibly well run)
• Elk sleigh ride (our favorite activity) with @natioanlelkrefugesleighrides
• Shopping + wandering the town square
• Backcountry snowmobiling
• Winter “safari”
• Yellowstone tours

🍴 Kid-friendly restaurants with fantastic food
• Snake River Grill
• Persephone Bakery
• The Kitchen
• Steadfire Chophouse
• Corsa

RANKING TOP 5 OF THE BEST FAMILY HOTELS WE VISITED RANKING TOP 5 OF THE BEST FAMILY HOTELS WE VISITED IN 2025

Our favorite stays of 2025 — sharing the vibe of each, who it’s a good fit for, and why my kids loved each one.

As a travel advisor, I can book these hotels for you with preferred rates and complimentary perks that can save you hundreds (sometimes thousands) of dollars.

5️⃣@jwmarcoisland – This hotel is a great luxury option that doesn’t break the bank. The wide white-sand beach, family pools with waterslides, off-site excursions (dolphins!), and especially the arcade made this unbelievably fun for kids. Room choice really matters, so reach out if you want a travel advisor’s take.

4️⃣@seaisland – We’ve visited three times and it continues to deliver. For parents: world-class spa and truly jaw-dropping golf facilities. For families, you could stay a week and never get bored. The multigenerational activities are endless and unique — turtle dawn patrols, falcon walks, and beach horseback riding.

3️⃣@altagraciaauberge – A bucket list hotel that delivered 100%. You fly directly into the property, which feels very James Bond (kid-friendly version). Tucked into the Talamanca Mountains, kids love the farm visits, horseback riding, and butterfly gardens, while parents get butler service, incredible food, a true remote escape, and a spa that’s an absolute must.

2️⃣@susurrosauberge – Every corner of this resort is stunning. Jaw-dropping pools, a pristine swimmable beach, beautiful villas for larger groups, and a kids club my children did not want to leave.

1️⃣@fscostarica – A perfect 10/10. A splurge that’s worth every penny. Nestled between two gorgeous beaches and surrounded by lush fauna, it feels like you’ve landed on the other side of the world. The on-site adventure is unmatched — ziplining, surfing, hiking, biking, kayaking, and more. Plus, the new Papagayo Park with waterslides just opened in December.
